I have almost all of the KitchenAid attachments and the pasta roller is by far the best attachment KitchenAid ever made. Its a game changer for anywhere who makes homemade pasta. No more cranking and you get to use two hands. I can promise you that once you make the switch from the traditional roller to the Kitchen Aid attachment, you’ll never look back.
You can purchase just the basic roller if you like to cut your own shapes. I have the basic 3 piece set and I use them all. The basic 3 piece set comes with a cutter to make tagliatelle (similar to fettuccini) and another to make tagliolini (thin spaghetti).
For a very advanced pasta maker, KitchenAid also offers a five piece set that offers an additional two sizes to cut.
